Salary Range:$19.10

Department:Communications

Location:EMS Communications Center

Reports to:Communications Supervisors

Position Summary

The Transfer Center Dispatcher plays a critical role within the Communications Department by coordinating patient transfer services. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills to efficiently manage transfer requests evaluate medical necessity and billing requirements and coordinate appropriate patient transport services. The dispatcher ensures all requests are handled professionally promptly and in accordance with organizational policies and contractual guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assure compliance and enforcement of all policies procedures processes and protocols of the American Ambulance Employee Handbook American Ambulance/Fresno County contract CCEMSA Policies and Procedures and any other contracts relating to EMS Communications.
  • Staff Transfer Center workstations as assigned.
  • Performs call backs to sending facilities for delays and updates in a timely manner.
  • Assure receipt of all required billing information when needed.
  • Communicate with hospitals medical facilities and the general public in an effective appropriate and professional manner.
  • Operate equipment as trained and assigned and provide appropriate notification to the on-duty Supervisor in the event of malfunction.
  • Maintain professional and courteous radio communications with all personnel utilizing clear-text radio standards.

Secondary Job Functions

  • Arrives to all work assignments on time in the appropriate uniform and with all appropriate certifications and credentials.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of assigned workstation.
  • Assures all safety rules and guidelines are followed.
  • Maintains a professional appearance when representing American Ambulance.
  • Responsible for completion and accuracy of all paperwork and computerized records.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Promote good morale by exhibiting exemplary conduct a positive attitude and support for all personnel and American Ambulance.
  • Treats all patients patients families and friends health care agency personnel and all members of the public with respect and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Previous administrative support experience (preferred)
  • Excellent computer and typing skills
  • Current CCEMSA TransComm Dispatcher (provided after training)

Authority

  • May not release employee-related information.
  • May not release call-related information pertaining to CAD/Dispatch information.
  • May not release Company-related information.
  • May not use Company letterhead.
  • May not communicate with the media
  • May not release or remove from the Communication Center any patient information.

  • Attend all mandatory training sessions.

This job operates in an office-like environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones copiers and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position (in-person). Days and hours of work may vary as job duties demand.

Travel

There may be occasional travel for conferences seminars and training.
