Description of Work

This is journey level work in the construction installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems equipment and fixtures. Applicants for this position should be skilled in working in the maintenance and repair of facilities involving multiple complex and/or highly skilled trade specialties. Employees function at the journey level in Mechanical Maintenance Electrical and Plumbing. Must be skilled in the use and care of electrical tools. Must be able to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment. Must be able to read and work from blueprints and sketches. Must be able to follow both oral and written addition they perform a variety of tasks at or near the journey level during a substantial portion of the normal work schedule in other trade areas at least one of which is significantly different from their primary trade. Employees work independently in performing assigned tasks but refer very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration. Work will include the supervision of inmate workers engaged in semiskilled unskilled or of skilled maintenance assignments. Work is evaluated on the basis of compliance with work orders and success in keeping equipment in proper working condition. Work assignments are received from a supervisor and are performed independently and in accordance with accepted trade practices. Employees may perform other duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
