3 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality repairs maintenance and improvement works across a range of trades within residential properties ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation policies and standards. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service achieving first-time fixes and maintaining safe efficient and cost-effective operations while supporting team performance and organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on regulation and legislation updates ensuring full organisational compliance.
Carry out all work in accordance with policies procedures guidelines and building regulations.
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety requirements including risk assessments PPE and reporting procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with Data Protection legislation.
Complete repairs within target response times to a high standard.
Diagnose faults accurately and aim to rectify issues on the first visit.
Carry out tests inspections and surveys providing detailed reports as required.
Work safely in both occupied and unoccupied properties.
Ensure all scheduled and emergency work is completed efficiently each day.
Plan and manage daily workloads and schedules effectively.
Process all jobs in real time using mobile devices.
Complete all digital work orders and documentation accurately and on time.
Use Schedule of Rates (SORs) to cost works and manage budgets.
Ensure labour and material targets are achieved.
Use materials in a cost-effective and value-driven manner.
Maintain van stock tools and equipment securely and at agreed levels.
Order additional materials as required via mobile systems.
Ensure company vehicles are used maintained and presented in line with policy.
Coordinate or support colleagues on larger projects.
Mentor apprentices new recruits and other technicians.
Work collaboratively and assist colleagues to meet organisational goals.
Promote a one team culture and organisational values.
Liaise professionally with residents keeping them informed at all times.
Provide sensitive support to vulnerable residents where required.
Attend tenant meetings when necessary.
Act as an ambassador for the organisation and uphold customer care standards.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years experience in a Direct Labour Service or similar environment.
Relevant trade qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 or 3) or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in property repairs and maintenance across multiple trades.
Strong knowledge of building regulations statutory requirements and codes of practice.
Good understanding of construction methods materials and refurbishment principles.
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Ability to assess risks including lone working scenarios.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Competence in completing digital documentation and using mobile work systems.
