TheInfection Control Epidemiologist(ICE) II supports the planning implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and affiliated areas. This role plays a key part in advancing evidence-based infection prevention practices to ensure the safety of patients visitors and staff.
The ICE II partners with clinical and operational teams to monitor infection trends support compliance with infection prevention standards and drive initiatives that improve patient safety and quality of care.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree required in a related field.
- Degree inNursing Microbiology Epidemiology Public Health or a related disciplinepreferred.
- Masters degree inPublic Health or a related fieldpreferred.
Experience
- Minimum of2 years of related professional experiencerequired.
- Relevant experience may includeInfection Control Nursing Microbiology Epidemiology Health Education or Public Health.
Knowledge
- Knowledge ofinfection prevention and control principles epidemiology microbiology and clinical practices related to infection prevention.
- Familiarity withhealthcare-associated infections (HAIs) evidence-based prevention strategies and practices related to cleaning disinfection and sterilization.
- Understanding ofregulatory standards infection prevention guidelines and performance improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge ofadult learning principlesfor effective staff education and training.
Skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively withclinical operational and academic partnersacross the hospital and university environment.
- Strongcommunication and presentation skillswith experience educating both small and large groups.
- Ability toimplement infection prevention policies and lead performance improvement initiativesat both unit and organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret infection surveillance data.
Licensure / Certification
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC)required withintwo (2) years of hire.
Salary Range: Minimum 39.56/hour - Maximum 65.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
