Nemours is seeking a PSR II for our PACU! The Perioperative Services Patient Services Representative (PSR) II is responsible for providing ancillary support to the Pre-Surgical Care Area Operating Room and Post-Anesthesia Care Areas on a rotating basis dependent upon daily assignmentsto include periodic rotation to the Malvern Ambulatory Surgery Center Malvern PA and the Deptford Ambulatory Surgery Center Deptford NJ. The PSRII is expected to maintain current state and federal clearances for DE PA and NJ.

PACU PSRII requires PA clearances within 6 months of hire Support Surgery Centers in PA and NJ as needed. Weekend and Holiday Working shifts working as needed by department.

  • Full-time 30 hours per week

The primary function of the PSRII in the Pre-Surgical Care area is to ensure that patients and their families/guardians are greeted and registered in Surgical Services in an accurate and timely manner that include but are not limited to validation of demographic information collection of co-payments obtaining vital signs Point-of-Care testing and any other requisite requirements to entering the Pre-Surgical Care area.

The primary function of the PSRII in the Post-Anesthesia Care area is to provide ancillary support to the patients and their families/guardians in cooperation with perianesthesia team members to provide safe quality post-anesthesia care that includes but is not limited to Point-of-Care testing management of patient records participation in post-operative telephone calls to patients and their families/guardians and assisting with patient transfers transportation and discharges post-anesthesia recovery.

Position Responsibilities

Pre-Surgical Care Area:

  • Responsible for preparation of surgical patient charts 48 hours in advance of the DOS to include 10 patient labels patient ID band and parent/guardian ID badges.
  • Responsible for email distribution of pre-operative care information to surgical patients and their families/guardians 48 hours in advance of the DOS.
  • Responsible for greeting surgical patients and their families/guardians using AIDET.
  • Responsible for systematically completing surgical patient registration to include ensuring application of patient ID band and parent/guardian ID badge obtaining parent/guardian signatures taking patient photos and scanning insurance cards and any other relative documents to the surgical patient EMR.
  • Responsible for collecting and posting co-payments any past due balances reconciling payments at the end of the shift and submission of LCDRS and DCRS forms.
  • Responsible for requesting and logging MyNemours sign ups
  • Responsible for accessing the AIDHC Admission Work Que (8245) to resolve missing patient information.
  • Responsible for obtaining surgical patient height weight temperature and vital signs with corresponding data entry into the surgical patient EMR.
  • Responsible for performing POC testing as applicable and transporting specimens to the clinical laboratory and Blood Bank as needed.
  • Responsible for contacting surgical patients and their families/guardians when they are ten minutes past their scheduled arrival time.
  • Responsible for communicating with the PACU PFS/PACU Charge RN as to the status of surgical patients and their families/guardians waiting more than ten minutes.
  • Responsible for guiding surgical patients and their families/guardians through Perioperative Services responding to patient and family/guardian questions/concerns receiving incoming telephone calls and utilizing Voalte technology in a professional manner in keeping with the Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring patient safety cleanliness and security of Perioperative Services to include but not limited to disinfection of pre-surgical patient bays WOWs BP monitors thermometers weight scales TV remotes stretchers chairs electronic/audio devices and toys.
  • Responsible for printing the surgical schedule 24 hours in advance of the DOS and compare to the prepared surgical patient charts to ensure each patient has a chart prepared.
  • Responsible for par level maintenance of clinical supplies at each pre-surgical bay and ordering of clinical supplies (Lawson) and office supplies (WB Mason) for the Pre-Surgical Care area as directed by Perioperative Nursing Leadership.
  • Responsible for monitoring/replacing oxygen tanks resuscitation devices head boards and foot boards on surgical patient stretchers and monitoring/maintaining blankets in the blanket warmer with the expectation to escalate missing or broken items through the appropriate channels.
  • Responsible for collecting scanners removing the batteries placing the batteries in chargers and plugging in all Work Stations on Wheels (WOW) daily.
  • Responsible for registering vendors upon entry and exit to Perioperative Services to include confirmation of vendor tracking sign-in/sign-out assignment of access badges for Perioperative Services and surgical attire withholding/returning of car keys and provision of red bouffant hat.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Post-anesthesia Care Area:

  • Responsible for greeting surgical patients and their families/guardians using AIDET.
  • Responsible for guiding surgical patients and their families/guardians through Perioperative Services responding to patient and family/guardian questions/concerns receiving incoming telephone calls and utilizing Voalte technology in a professional manner in keeping with the Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring patient safety cleanliness and security of the Post-Anesthesia Care area to include but not limited to disinfection of post-anesthesia patient bays WOWs BP monitors thermometers weight scales TV remotes stretchers chairs electronic/audio devices and toys.
  • Responsible for providing ancillary support to the perianesthesia team in responding to patient care needs to include but not limited to assistance with toileting turning lifting and repositioning surgical patients. Includes provision of surgical patient transfer transportation and discharge.
  • Responsible for performing POC testing as applicable and transporting specimens to the clinical laboratory and Blood Bank as needed.
  • Responsible for monitoring/replacing oxygen tanks resuscitation devices head boards and foot boards on surgical patient stretchers and monitoring/maintaining blankets in the blanket warmer.
  • Responsible for par level maintenance of clinical supplies at each post-anesthesia bay and ordering clinical supplies (Lawson) office supplies (WB Mason) and nutritional supplies (Sodexo) for the Post-Anesthesia Care area.
  • Responsible for dismantling surgical patient charts post-discharge from PACU and scanning documents to HIM daily.
  • Responsible for assisting with post-operative telephone calls and re-directing clinical questions and concerns to the perianesthesia registered nurses based on the associated reliable method that includes scripting and escalation criteria.
  • Responsible for printing the surgical schedule 24 hours in advance of the DOS for utilization by the PACU Charge RN/PFS.
  • Responsible for supporting the PACU Family Waiting Area desk in collaboration with the Perioperative Services Nurse Liaison and volunteers.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Position Requirements
