You are a curious and motivated student with a strong interest in government public policy and stakeholder engagement. You enjoy researching complex issues organizing information and supporting initiatives that strengthen relationships with government partners and external stakeholders. With strong communication skills and attention to detail you help ensure engagement activities and materials are accurate timely and well coordinated.

You have:

  • Enrolment in secondary or post-secondary education with a preference for post-secondary studies in Political Science Public Administration Public Policy Government Relations Communications or a related field with a requirement to return to studies in the next academic term
  • General proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook; Teams)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to take direction work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage competing priorities meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Business professionalism and customer-service orientation
  • Must meet Ontarios minimum working age for the job duties required
  • Availability to work occasional weekends during the summer to support local comunity events


What you will do:

  • Assist the Government Relations team in researching and preparing briefing materials backgrounders presentations and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support tracking and coordination of government and stakeholder engagement activities including meetings events and outreach initiatives
  • Assist with compiling stakeholder lists contact information and engagement records
  • Conduct research on government priorities legislation policy initiatives and sector issues relevant to MPACs mandate
  • Support updates to internal tracking tools databases and shared resources related to government relations activities
  • Provide administrative and clerical support including filing scanning document organization and meeting preparation
  • Attend events representing MPAC and interact with elected officials
  • Support project coordination by tracking timelines identifying issues and escalating matters to the manager as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Summer Student Wage Rates:

  • Summer Students currently enrolled in secondary school or students working solely on administrative activity: $17.60 per hour
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary first-time hire: $18.35 per hour
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary returning employment: $19.35 per hour
