DescriptionVertiv Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier performance to produce quality parts to Vertiv drawing/specification and deliver high quality production parts to Vertiv Plant. When the suppliers build parts for Vertiv you ensure the supplier quality and reliability and manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. Also you will collaborate with Plant Buyer Procurement/Commodity Managers Product Designers Plant Quality and Manufacturing Engineers to determine Vertivs project needs and product specifications as well as maintain working relationships with suppliers to assure the highest quality possible of purchased parts / materials with a focus on continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with plant quality to assure the quality of parts/materials received at Vertiv plant.
- Work closely with the supplier to understand the nature of the issue and get definite corrective action initiated in the organization.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) for disposition of rejects identified by Receiving Inspection (RI) or production.
- Lead problem definition and reactive problem solving through containment identification of root cause and corrective action with Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR).
- Drive SCAR for root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for the reject/failure found in RI and production due to suppliers fault to prevent reoccurrence of quality issue.
- Report on the effectiveness of supplier actions taken throughout organization as well as manage risk by collaborating with a cross-functional team and suppliers.
- Lead supplier performance improvement by completing product compliance on-site evaluation of technical capability investigating nonconformance identified by Vertiv plant field failure and customer complaints by working closely with services quality engineering procurement/plant buyer manufacturing engineer etc.
- Perform on-site audit at supplier for new supplier approval PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and surveillance to verify the effectiveness of implemented action taken after RCCA.
- Monitor and resolve supplier process control issues by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive permanent resolution of supplier issues reported by Vertiv plants or Customers.
- Evaluate and improve product quality and reliability performance using techniques such as DFX PFMEA audits in-line parametric QC test and IQC methodologies.
- Establish product quality standards for Vertivs suppliers and quality targets to include reduction/prevention of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) warranty reduction and overall supplier rating.
- Develop 8D and supplier reports on quality issues to communicate internally and externally on outcomes of investigations.
- Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries for the Leadership Team.
Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineer role or related field.
- Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding engineering drawings specifications prints dimensions and tolerances.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop manage and implement aggressive project plans.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks by clarifying priority complexity and severity as well having plans to complete these tasks.
- Work closely with cross functionally open minded with people in other functions.
- Experienced with problem solving tools and techniques including 8-D 5 Whys Fishbone Pareto First Piece PPAP Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) etc.
- Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control including Control Plans SPC Cpk Gage R&R Six Sigma etc.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must be PC proficient with solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Material & Process Metal Fabrication/Machining Manufacturing Electromechanical Assembly etc.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Engineering / Technical degree or equivalent technical experience with minimum 5 years of work experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent Standing and walking.
