Job Title: Press Forklift Operator (Floater)Classification: Non-Exempt Department: ForgingReports to: Forging SupervisorPosition Summary:This position is responsible for operating a Forklift. The operator is charged with operating the Forklift with safety in mind delivering cages or billets to the press and handling scrap containers. Key Responsibilities:- Ensuring consistent basic safety standards and procedures.
- Forklift operation and small hoist operation.
- Ensures Press utilization is at maximum operational availability.
- Directly works with maintenance to ensure equipment up time.
- Promotes maintains and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for themselves and other KAAP employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company standards.
- Assist in the preparation of daily production reports and maintain appropriate records.
- Ensure all SOP are followed and not deviated from.
- Other duties assigned by the Forging Supervisor.
Skills & Competencies:- Understanding and utilization of 5S concept.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ability to use QAD to scan billets at the press using a scan gun.
- Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts (willing to work every other weekend and some holidays). Shifts are either 5:00 AM - 5:10 PM or 5:00 PM - 5:10 PM.
- Able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods to include but not limited to: lifting up to (50 lbs.) walking standing stooping pulling and pushing.
- Willing to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations; including wearing personal protective equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic English
- Ability to follow instructions
- Must work safely.
- Willing to work in hot/humid cold noisy industrial environment.
- Willing to work around dust oil grease chemicals and other substances.
- Able to use a computer for basic reporting and documentation.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills. Ability to read write and communicate verbally.
- Able to accurately use basic math.
Education & experience: - High school degree or GED equivalence.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
