Job Duties:
Works under direction & requires thorough knowledge of professional nursing in order to supervise plan schedule & review work of assigned staff & coordinate delivery of nursing & psychiatric care to consumers on designated area on one or more assigned shifts & supervise all subordinate nursing personnel assigned to designated area on one or more assigned shifts. Coordinates nursing personnel on various shifts in accordance with established criteria (e.g. identifies operational problems takes appropriate action maintains staffing coverage etc.): coordinates assessments planning evaluation & delivery of psychiatric & medical nursing (assesses nursing care requirements of consumers assess available resources to provide care established nursing priorities for a given area based on population evaluates quality of consumer care based on established standards etc.).Assist in planning nursing policies & procedures (e.g. participates in the creation & implementation & monitoring of departmental policies/procedures & goals assists in the development of consumer care standards that are consistent with current nursing & medical standards serves as a resource for nesting and other professional staff etc.). supervises nursing personnel (e.g. schedules assigns & reviews work recommends commendation & discipline; recommends/not recommends leaves evaluates staff). Keeps Psych/DD Nurse Director updated on pertinent/relevant information.
Assumes responsibility for portion of center orientation program; Provides in-service training program (e.g. identifies nursing information needed to enhance consumer quality of life proves nursing consultation to nursing staff & other professionals etc.). Monitors training programs to ensure appropriate development implementation and quality assurance). Serves and participates as an interdisciplinary team member. Attends meeting seminars and workshops. Writes & reviews reports.
Provides professional nursing care services as circumstances dictate. Participates in direct patient care activities as required by consumer needs & staffing resources. Provides information to & confers with physicians and/or outside agencies regarding consumer nursing/medical care. Responds to emergencies. Completes other duties as assigned.

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 24 mos. psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 mos. public relations; 3 courses or 9 mos. counseling.
