Job Summary/Description:
WBKO has an exciting opportunity for anyone who is interested in entering the field of meteorology. This teammate will have a love of forecasting on broadcast digital & social platforms and the drive to tell personality-driven stories and segments when not in the First Alert Weather Center. This is an entry-level position and an opportunity to get your foot in the door while learning from the best journalists in the market. This position will primarily involve working on weekends and filling in for meteorologists but other duties are involved.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Fill in for meteorologists
- Work weekend mornings producing digital content
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures webcam interviews etc.) to enhance newscasts and stories
- Write for the web and post daily on all digital platforms including social media and attach images and streaming video
- Shoot and edit videos for newscasts
- Perform other tasks as required by news managers
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Actively pursuing a degree in meteorology or a related field
- Must be able to work flexible days and hours
- Knowledge of AP Style ENPS newsroom systems and Edius editing systems is preferable
- MVR Check
