Job Summary/Description:
WKYT seeks a dynamic Weekend Morning News Producer to join our award-winning team. The ideal candidate should have a high-energy personality with innovative ideas and a passion for producing informative creative and engaging this role youll be the driving force behind our weekend morning programming setting the tone for our viewers Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Position Details:
Schedule: Friday through Monday 11:00 PM 9:00 AM (four 10-hour shifts)
Primary Focus: Produce Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts (one-hour show airing twice)
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Produce engaging informative and urgent weekend morning news programming for WKYTs primary morning shows
Write and post stories for all WKYT digital platforms
Use strong editorial judgment to select and present stories that matter to the WKYT audience
Coordinate live shots including sources from satellite microwave and TVU feeds
Control and monitor breaking news and weather situations during weekend morning hours
Engage viewers on social media to enhance the broadcast experience
Collaborate with anchors reporters and other production staff to execute high-quality broadcasts
Perform other duties as assigned by the News Director or management staff
Qualifications/Requirements:
Producing experience preferred
A degree in Journalism or a related communication field is mandatory
Must be available to work all shifts
Capable of working under pressure and meeting daily deadlines in a high-energy working environment
Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask efficiently
Ability to think creatively and produce compelling weekend programming
