Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY : The Assistant Womens Wrestling Coach is a full-time 12-month position. The position is responsible for assisting the Head Womens Wrestling Coach in all aspects of the Womens Wrestling program ensuring adherence to NCAA compliance. Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : 1. Assists with recruiting student-athletes that are committed to academic and athletic excellence. 2. Has adequate training and background to properly plan implement train and coach womens wrestling at the collegiate level. 3. Assists Head Coach with team training and various administrative responsibilities including but not limited to community service academic support fundraising and recruiting. 4. Learns understands and complies with all NCAA and Gannon University policies and requirements. 5. Promotes a positive student-athlete experience. 6. Promotes and represents the University whenever possible. 7. Assists with the design and development of strength and conditioning plans. 8. Assists with the operation and instruction of camps and clinics. 9. Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills within the program department and University. 10. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the position.
Physical Demands
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy athletic team schedule. WORKING CONDITIONS : Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a busy University setting. The work schedule will vary with heavier emphasis September through May.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS : Education: A Bachelors Degree; working knowledge of freestyle wrestling techniques and NCAA rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them. University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission. Experience: Freestyle wrestling experience. Womens wrestling coaching and/or competitive experience at the collegiate level is strongly preferred. Licensure: Must have a valid drivers license in good standing and CPR / AED and First Aid certified. Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated organizational and time management skills; technical knowledge of freestyle wrestling skills and strategy combined with the ability to effectively teach and coach them; the ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes; strong administrative skills such as prioritization organization and budgeting; ability to work independently and to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior collegiate competitive and/or coaching experience. Certified strength and conditioning coach.
