A great opportunity for a Vehicle Mechanic to join our fully geared Defence Maintenance Contract team based at Borneo Barracks in Cabarlah QLD. From late 2026 additional work is expected in Oakey and a vehicle will be provided at that stage to support travel between sites.

As a Vehicle Mechanic you will conduct routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy military vehicles including 4WDs trucks tracked and armoured vehicles infantry personnel carriers and even armoured tanks!

About the role

• Conduct maintenance tasks including technical inspection and classification

• Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines transmissions and differentials.

• Reassemble test clean and adjust repaired or replacedparts

• Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs

• Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting ignition and electronic fuel injection.

• Inspect vehicles and issue road worthiness certificates

About you

• Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent level

• Open to Light Vehicle Mechanics with demonstrated Heavy vehicle experience

• Demonstrated experience to inspect repair and maintain Light Medium and Heavy vehicles

• Must possess a current Australian State or Territory class C Drivers License

• You must be an Australian Citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
