QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in education or a field of study related to Special Education.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in a field of special education.
- Three years of successful teaching experience not less than two years of which shall be recent teaching in a special education program.
- Approval or the ability to obtain full approval as a teacher consultant.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to facilitate and structure meetings.
- Able to build and maintain professional relationships with parents staff and students.
- In this role you must be able to bend twist stoop squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
- Willingness to be a team leader and professional role model on behalf of the Department ofSpecial Educationwith the Port Huron Area School District.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports directly to the Director for Special Education and the appropriate supervisor.
- Trained and able to demonstrate an understanding of Individualized Education Plans and compliance guidelines including the Individualized Family Service Plan.
- Experience using Kelvin.
- Able to facilitate IEP meetings REEDs Amendments and re-evaluations.
- Assist special education teachers with specially designed instruction and supports for unique learners.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with facilitating functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plans.
- Prior knowledge and experience with B sheets.
- Assume other responsibilities as determined by the supervising administrator.
- Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and projects a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
