Position Summary

The director of the Diversity Research Network provides comprehensive primary service-oriented leadership on-campus through active and effective engagement faculty and scholars. The director is responsible for articulating and helping to realize the overall vision and programmatic offerings of the DRN. This includes outreach engagement assessment and reporting of program and participant outcomes. The director oversees the operations of the unit supervises staff and student workers and performs strategic outreach efforts to promote collaborate and develop substantive relations and partnerships with faculty department chairs deans other administrative and executive leaders and potential donors. The work described is in fulfillment of the DRN mission to further leading research and retain world-class academic contributors at Michigan State University.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must possess many of the following attributes and skills:

• Status as tenured faculty at MSU with the rank of Associate or Full Professor
• Earned terminal degree
• Demonstrated accomplishment in their chosen field of study
• Productive and impactful publication record
• Significant administrative experience in higher education including mentoring development and cultivation of colleagues junior scholars and students.
• Knowledge of and experience within a higher education environment particularly as it relates to faculty development/instructional or programmatic design or implementation research design and analysis centering inclusive practices and talent retention
• Experience developing programs emphasizing inclusive excellence talent development and retention efforts
• Ability to supervise and lead programs to enhance retention and success of faculty and staff from diverse groups within the community
• Experience establishing strategies and protocols to assess and enhance effectiveness of existing and new programs
• Ability to plan develop and implement marketing strategies for faculty programming
• Knowledge of best practices for employee engagement principles and processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; Experience with conducting research or report writing; Ability to interpret and summarize data both verbally and in writing
• Excellent interpersonal and community relations skills; ability to communicate and work collaboratively within a diverse community

Special Instructions

This position is a negotiable administrative appointment between .5 - .6 FTE open to an existing Associate / Full Professor with tenure. The remainder would be spent in the faculty rank.
