We are seeking a highly skilled Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Specialist to provide technical expertise in the inspection and evaluation of natural gas transmission and distribution assets. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety reliability and regulatory compliance of energy infrastructure by supporting high-quality inspection practices and oversight of nondestructive testing programs.
The NDE Specialist will provide technical leadership contractor oversight and inspection program support across gas capital projects and operational activities. The role requires deep expertise in nondestructive testing methods and the ability to interpret industry codes standards and specifications to ensure weld integrity and asset reliability.
NDE Technical Oversight
- Perform and oversee nondestructive examination activities including:
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Visual inspections
- Evaluate test results for compliance with applicable codes standards and project specifications.
- Select and approve appropriate NDE methods and techniques for inspection activities.
- Conduct NDE inspections for methods where certified.
Contractor & Quality Oversight
- Perform contractor and vendor audits to ensure quality and compliance.
- Conduct surveillance activities to verify adherence to inspection standards and procedures.
- Monitor NDE work performed by contractors and third-party providers.
Compliance & Risk Reduction
- Interpret and apply industry codes regulations and specifications.
- Ensure inspection activities meet all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Support programs that improve weld integrity and reduce infrastructure risk
Workforce Leadership
- Coordinate and manage NDE personnel on both small and large projects.
- Provide coaching training and certification support for NDE technicians.
- Promote a culture of safety accountability and technical excellence.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with project teams contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate inspection findings and program updates to leadership and stakeholders.
Education
- Associates degree preferred (or equivalent technical experience)
Certifications
- ASNT Level II certification in at least three NDE methods preferred
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Level III certification preferred
- AWS CWI or CRI certification preferred
Experience
- 510 years of NDE experience in:
- Natural gas utilities
- Energy infrastructure
- Power generation
- Industrial inspection environments
- Experience managing inspection teams or coordinating contractor work.
Other Requirements
- Strong technical understanding of industry codes and inspection standards.
- Ability to lead and influence teams in field environments.
- Valid drivers license with a safe driving record.
