We are looking for a technically minded organised and peoplefocused Technical Advisor to support the operation and maintenance of the Metropolitan Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS) which is the backbone of Perths drinking water network.

This is a handson impactful role where you will work across bulk water conveyance assets including high-pressure water pipelines (trunk mains) major pump stations flow and pressure regulation valves and other water transfer infrastructure that keeps Perths taps flowing.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Kelmscott however we are open to considering a part-time arrangement for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Technical Advisor Integrated Water Supply Scheme Operations you will:

Provide specialist technical support

  • Offer expert advice to operational and maintenance teams working on largescale conveyance and trunk main assets.
  • Review asset condition and assessment reports interpret technical data and action recommendations to keep the network in top condition.

Support operations & maintenance activities

  • Assist with supervising daily maintenance activities across the IWSS bulk water conveyance network.
  • Help prioritise and progress a backlog of repairs ensuring infrastructure remains reliable and compliant.

Engage with stakeholders

  • Work closely with internal teams contractors and external stakeholders to coordinate maintenance shutdowns and project works.
  • Provide clear confident technical communication across all levels.

Lead and support project work

  • Support project planning and delivery contractor management and costeffective execution of maintenance and operational activities.
  • Use strong data analysis skills to inform decisions and optimise performance.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Bulk water conveyance pipelines (trunk mains)
  • Major IWSS pump stations
  • Pressure and flow control valves
  • Largescale water transfer infrastructure
  • Integration and upgrade projects supporting Perths future water demand

Your First Few Months

You will not be thrown in the deep end! Your onboarding will include:

  • Getting to know our assets and how the system works
  • Spending time in the field with the team
  • Meeting operational and project stakeholders
  • Learning our processes tools and systems

Once settled you will jump into progressing the backlog of repairs and helping us ensure our assets are in topnotch condition to avoid costly disruptions to water production.

About You Essential Qualifications & Experience

You will bring a strong mix of technical capability practical experience and the ability to work confidently in a busy operational environment. Specifically we are looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering (Civil/Mechanical Project Management or a related discipline).
  • Substantial experience in mechanical electrical or civil environments ideally within construction infrastructure mining or utilities including relevant supervisory exposure.
  • Considerable experience working in complex processbased industries particularly in operations and maintenance of largescale assets.
  • Strong diagnostic and continuous improvement skills with the ability to identify faults analyse root causes and improve processes in a processfocussed environment.
  • A current C Class Drivers Licence (regular site travel required and work vehicle will be provided).

Bonus Points!

  • SAP experience
  • Background in water operations asset management or major infrastructure maintenance
