Mission Why This Role Exists

The Activations Consultant Carrier Integrations ensures that carriers and logistics partners connect seamlessly to the Descartes Global Logistics Network. This role exists to translate complex logistics connectivity requirements into reliable scalable integrations that enable customers to exchange critical transportation data efficiently and securely across global supply chain systems.

Outcomes What Success Looks Like

1. Deliver Reliable Carrier Integrations
   Successfully design and implement EDI and API integrations between carriers TMS platforms and the Descartes GLN Document Exchange platform ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet customer connectivity requirements.
2. Enable Efficient Carrier Onboarding
   Support onboarding projects by acting as the technical lead during integration cycles ensuring carriers are connected to the Descartes network quickly and with minimal disruption.
3. Ensure Integration Quality and Stability
   Validate message flows troubleshoot integration issues and support testing and go-live activities to achieve high reliability and minimal production errors across integration workflows.
4. Improve Integration Efficiency
   Contribute reusable mappings templates and best practices that reduce implementation time and increase scalability across onboarding projects.
5. Maintain Clear Technical Documentation
   Produce and maintain accurate integration documentation mapping specifications and test results to support transparency knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
6. Strengthen Cross-Team Collaboration
   Work closely with Professional Services Product and Global Activations teams to resolve issues quickly and ensure successful project delivery across global implementations.

Skills & Competencies How the Work Gets Done

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of EDI standards (EDIFACT ANSI X12) and B2B integration concepts
• Experience implementing system integrations between enterprise platforms ideally including Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
• Ability to design and maintain data mappings and transformations (e.g. XSLT)
• Experience with API-based integrations and structured data formats such as XML CSV and flat files
• Familiarity with secure communication protocols including AS2 and SFTP
• Experience troubleshooting and validating integration workflows
• Knowledge of logistics messaging such as IFCSUM IFTMIN IFTSTA 204 or 214 is an advantage

Professional Capabilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills when diagnosing complex integration issues
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications
• Strong documentation and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple integration projects while meeting delivery timelines
• Comfortable collaborating with global teams customers and external logistics partners
• Experience using Jira or similar tools to track implementation work and issues

You will collaborate with international teams across Professional Services Product and Global Activations gaining exposure to large-scale logistics technology environments and complex integration challenges. The position provides hands-on experience with modern integration technologies EDI standards and API connectivity used across global transportation networks.

The role operates within a flexible global work environment with working hours Monday to Friday and at least five hours overlapping with the CET time zone with occasional flexibility depending on project requirements.
