About therole:

JoinAnglicare Central Queensland as a Peer Worker Carer Supportwhere your lived experience becomes a powerful tool for change. Inthis meaningful role youll walk alongside carers supporting lovedones through suicidal crises - offering empathy guidance and hopewhen its needed most. Youll facilitate connection sharepractical tools and help carers heel supported understood andempowered.

Whatwill a typical day look like

Facilitate peer support groups fostering a safe and supportive environment for carers.
Provide individual guidance to carers including oping strategies safety planning and self care techniques.
Assist carers in accessing appropriate services and resources
Build and maintain relationships with local organisations to strengthen support networks.
Keep accurate and confidential records in line with organisational policies.

MandatoryRequirements:

Minimum Certificate IV in AOD/Mental Health/Peer work or tertiary qualifications in social science
Personal experience in providing support to someone during suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt
Understanding of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016 National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010; National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2013; as well as other relevant laws and legislation
