About therole:

JoinAnglicare Central Queensland as a Peer Worker Carer Supportwhere your lived experience becomes a powerful tool for change. Inthis meaningful role youll walk alongside carers supporting lovedones through suicidal crises - offering empathy guidance and hopewhen its needed most. Youll facilitate connection sharepractical tools and help carers heel supported understood andempowered.

Whatwill a typical day look like

  • Facilitate peer support groups fostering a safe and supportive environment for carers.
  • Provide individual guidance to carers including oping strategies safety planning and self care techniques.
  • Assist carers in accessing appropriate services and resources
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organisations to strengthen support networks.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records in line with organisational policies.

MandatoryRequirements:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in AOD/Mental Health/Peer work or tertiary qualifications in social science
  • Personal experience in providing support to someone during suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt
  • Understanding of the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016 National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010; National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce 2013; as well as other relevant laws and legislation

  • Full COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
