The school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Welfare Officer to support students wellbeing and help ensure that every young person feels safe supported and able to succeed.
Working closely with pastoral leaders safeguarding staff and external agencies the Welfare Officer will play a vital role in supporting students facing emotional social or personal challenges.

Providing day-to-day pastoral support to students experiencing wellbeing concerns
Supporting safeguarding procedures and working closely with the designated safeguarding lead
Monitoring student attendance and supporting interventions where necessary
Liaising with parents carers and external agencies regarding student welfare
Supporting students returning to school following absence or personal difficulties
Maintaining confidential records of welfare concerns and support provided
Working closely with pastoral staff to implement support plans for students
Supporting behaviour and wellbeing initiatives across the school
Helping to deliver wellbeing programmes and awareness activities
Assisting with safeguarding referrals where appropriate
Ensuring all student welfare matters are handled sensitively and professionally
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting young people and promoting positive wellbeing.
They will demonstrate empathy professionalism and excellent communication skills while maintaining clear boundaries and confidentiality.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage sensitive situations appropriately will be essential.
Experience working with young people in an educational or youth support setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and external agencies
