Senior Accounting Coordinator
Location: Vancouver BC (Downtown)
Salary Range: $70000 $95000 benefits
Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the OpportunityOur client a well-established and highly respected professional services firm located in downtown Vancouver is seeking a Senior Accounting Coordinator to join its accounting team. This position plays an important role in supporting the firms financial operations with a particular focus on accounts receivable collections and accounting team coordination.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations. The successful candidate will bring a proactive approach to collections strong organizational skills and the ability to support day-to-day accounting processes within a professional services setting.The RoleReporting to the Financial Controller the Senior Accounting Coordinator will support key financial functions across the firm while assisting with the coordination of accounting workflows and processes.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Accounts Receivable & Collections- Proactively manage and follow up on outstanding accounts to ensure timely payment of invoices
- Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries and payment matters in a professional and client-focused manner
- Work closely with lawyers and internal stakeholders to develop strategies for resolving outstanding balances
- Prepare and distribute monthly account statements and follow up on overdue accounts
- Monitor aging reports and provide updates regarding collections activity and delinquent balances
Accounting Department Support- Act as a liaison between the Financial Controller and the accounting team to support communication and workflow coordination
- Provide guidance and assistance to accounting staff on questions relating to accounting procedures and processes
- Assist with maintaining efficient day-to-day operations within the accounting department
- Support month-end activities including reconciliations and preparation of financial reports
Trust Accounting & Compliance- Assist with trust accounting processes and help ensure compliance with Law Society trust accounting requirements
- Support trust reconciliations and respond to internal inquiries relating to trust transactions
- Assist with the preparation and review of trust bank and accounts receivable reconciliations
Reporting & Process Improvement- Generate internal reports relating to accounts receivable collections and financial performance
- Work with the Financial Controller to identify opportunities to improve collections procedures and accounting workflows
Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting accounts receivable or collections
- Experience working within a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of billing and collections processes
- Familiarity with Law Society trust accounting rules is highly desirable
- Knowledge of GST/PST/HST requirements is an asset
- Experience with legal accounting software (e.g. Soluno / ActionStep) is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication organization and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
