1. About the Role
The Power Applications Engineer will work closely with product engineering design and customer teams to support the development evaluation and deployment of power management semiconductor products.
The role involves evaluation board development silicon characterization simulation application support and documentation for enterprise power solutions such as DC-DC converters and buck regulators.
The engineer will support product validation reference design development and customer integration from sampling through production.
2. Key Responsibilities A. Evaluation Board (EVM) Hardware Development

Design test circuits and evaluation boards for power semiconductor devices.

Component selection and schematic development for evaluation platforms.
-
Work with PCB layout teams for board design review and feedback.
-
Perform debugging of evaluation boards and power DUT (Device Under Test).
B. Silicon Evaluation and Characterization
-
Perform bench characterization of power products including controllers power modules and power stages.
-
Develop test techniques and automate lab measurements.
-
Perform silicon bring-up and validation testing.
-
Optimize buck regulator control loops to improve efficiency and stability.
-
Execute robustness and stress tests to validate silicon performance.
C. Simulation and Analysis
-
Develop SIMPLIS simulation models for DC-DC converters.
-
Extract parasitic parameters from PCB Gerber files for simulation.
-
Perform simulation analysis to support system performance optimization.
D. Customer Application Support
-
Develop reference designs and evaluation solutions for customers.
-
Provide application support during product evaluation and integration.
-
Review customer schematics and PCB layouts.
-
Reproduce and debug customer issues using evaluation platforms.
-
Provide onsite technical support when required.
E. Documentation and Product Definition
-
Create application notes user guides and technical documentation.
-
Develop evaluation board documentation and test procedures.
-
Support datasheet development with application insights.
-
Provide feedback to product teams based on customer and system requirements.
3. Required Qualifications
-
Bachelors / Masters / PhD in Electrical Engineering Electronics Instrumentation or related discipline.
-
5 10 years of experience in Applications Engineering for power semiconductor products.
-
Strong understanding of power electronics and switching regulators.
-
Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and lab characterization.
-
Experience creating technical documentation and application notes.
4. Technical Skills
-
Strong understanding of DC-DC converters and switching regulators.
-
Knowledge of buck regulator control loops and stability analysis.
-
Experience with power device performance and reliability analysis.
-
Familiarity with hardware debugging bench testing and measurement tools.
-
Experience with SIMPLIS or similar power simulation tools.
-
Ability to perform power loss estimation and efficiency optimization.
-
Understanding of PCB layout considerations for power electronics.
