JOB DESCRIPTION: York Middle School MTSS Behavior/Academic Coach TITLE: MTSS-B/Academic CoachREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalJOB GOAL: To support the consistent high-fidelity implementation of the districts Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework with an emphasis on academic and behavioral supportby analyzing student performance data guiding Tier 1 2 and 3 intervention planning and collaborating with school-based teams to ensure all students receive the support needed to succeed within the General Education :Current State of Maine Educator Specialist or School Counselor certification Bachelors degree in Education Counseling Social Work or relatedMinimum three years relevant teaching or counseling experience preferably at the middle school levelDemonstrated experience with data-driven instruction analysis and intervention planningMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Middle School Expertise: Deep understanding of the social-emotional development and academic needs of young Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Literacy: Ability to interpret universal screeners progress monitoring tools and behavioral data to inform decision-making and deliver student-centered instruction. Interpersonal Skills: High emotional intelligence and the ability to build trusting relationships with young adolescent learners as well as adultsCollaborative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educators specialists administrators and families. Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to lead conversations regarding student PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Servie as the point of contact for MTSS-B implementation at York Middle in and/or facilitate scheduled MTSS Team universal screening data (e.g. literacy and math screeners) behavioral data (e.g. incident reports classroom observations) and attendance data to identify students at with grade-level teams counselors and specialists to identify and implement research-based academic and behavioral interventions appropriate for middle school learners. Develop and implement customized academic and behavior support rapport with students providing coaching that complements classroom instruction and builds habits for sustained success in middle school and beyond. Deliver 1:1 and small group instruction that strengthens executive functioning (time management self-regulation organization and study skills) enhances academic engagement and supports independence. Monitor the progress of students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions to determine the effectiveness of strategies and adjustments necessary to improve student in ongoing professional development in intervention techniques and behavior management to enhance effectiveness in this duties as assigned by the building principal. SALARY AND BENEFITS: This is a full-time salaried benefitted school-year position within the General Education program. Salary and benefits will be subject to the stipulations of the York Teachers Association bargaining agreement.
