Job Title: Special Education Teacher (Affective Needs)
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Full-Time Monday Friday 7:15 AM 3:15 PM (40 Hours/Week)
Location: Elementary School (Grades 1 5)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher (Affective Needs) to join our supportive school community. This role is ideal for educators who are committed to helping students with emotional and behavioral needs thrive in a structured nurturing learning environment.

The Special Education Teacher will work in a self-contained elementary classroom supporting students with severe affective needs including those identified with SED (Social Emotional Disturbance) and Autism. The ideal candidate will utilize a trauma-informed approach and effective behavioral strategies to create a positive and structured classroom environment.

• Provide specialized instruction to students with affective and behavioral needs.

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals.

• Foster a safe structured and supportive classroom environment.

• Utilize trauma-informed practices to support students with social-emotional challenges.

• Implement effective behavior management strategies to support student success.

• Collaborate with school staff specialists and families to ensure holistic support for students.

• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.

• Student Caseload: Approximately 10 students (flexible)

• Grade Levels: Elementary (1st 5th Grade)

• Classroom Setting: Self-contained classroom

• Support Staff: 2 Paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification

• Affective Needs Endorsement required

• Experience supporting students with SED and Autism preferred

• Strong behavior management and classroom leadership skills

• Ability to implement trauma-informed educational practices

• Small caseload of around 10 students

• Dedicated paraprofessional support

• Opportunity for long-term placement into theschool year
