OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Financial Controller supports the Director of Finance in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel ensuring sound financial management compliance and reporting in line with corporate and regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Director of Finance this role manages day-to-day accounting operations financial reporting budgeting processes and internal controls. The Financial Controller works closely with operational leaders to ensure financial discipline while supporting business decision-making and protecting the hotels financial integrity.

The role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records supporting financial planning processes and ensuring that financial practices align with both corporate requirements and regulatory obligations.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities of the Financial Controller are summarised below; however the list is not exhaustive.

GENERAL DUTIES

Support the Director of Finance in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel including accounting reporting and financial controls.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.

Monitor financial performance and provide analysis to support operational decision-making.

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and financial forecasts.

Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Maintain strong internal control procedures to safeguard the hotels financial assets.

Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger management.

Support financial reporting requirements for both property management and corporate finance teams.

Undertake any other duties or tasks deemed reasonable by the Director of Finance or General Manager.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Support the Director of Finance in leading and developing the finance team.

Provide guidance and oversight to finance team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

Foster collaboration between the finance department and operational teams to support business performance.

Promote a culture of accountability transparency and financial discipline across the organisation.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT & REPORTING

Prepare and analyse financial reports including profit and loss statements balance sheets and operational performance reports.

Monitor key financial indicators and assist in identifying opportunities to improve profitability and cost management.

Support the Director of Finance in coordinating internal and external audits.

Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies.

Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial planning activities.

COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT

Ensure compliance with statutory financial regulations and reporting standards.

Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.

Support internal audit processes and compliance reviews.

Identify financial risks and assist in implementing mitigation measures.

GUEST EXPERIENCE & BRAND REPRESENTATION

Support operational teams by providing financial insights that contribute to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Ensure financial practices align with the brand values and service philosophy of NoMad.

Maintain professionalism and integrity in all financial dealings with guests suppliers and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.

Professional accounting qualification such as CPA ACCA or equivalent is preferred.

Minimum 68 years of experience in finance or accounting preferably within hospitality or a service-oriented environment.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting accounting standards and internal control systems.

Experience in budgeting financial forecasting and financial analysis.

Familiarity with hospitality financial systems and reporting tools is advantageous.

Strong analytical leadership and organisational skills.

Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
