Your role and responsibilities

As the Business Support Manager you will:

  • Lead the daytoday management of the Service Business Support Team including appraisals identifying training needs delivering basic training and providing constructive feedback.
  • Set priorities for the team handle complex or nonroutine enquiries and provide clear guidance to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Support recruitment and selection activities including issuing contracts in conjunction with your line manager.

You will need

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ4 HNCD) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • The ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to support and guide a team in a busy operational environment.

The team

The Business Support Team is based at Fire Service Headquarters in Endeavour House Ipswich. We work closely with departments across the Fire & Rescue Service and act as the publics nonemergency contact channel. The breadth of our work means no two days are the same and team members can get involved in a wide range of activities including supporting Open Days County Show and other service events.

Being based at Endeavour House also puts you within the catchment area of the Ipswich Princes Street oncall crew should you wish to explore operational response opportunities.

We work Monday to Friday with hybrid and flexible working options available. We are happy to discuss individual arrangements confidentially and in line with County Council policy including working from alternative council locations.
