Job Summary
In accordance with the Mission Vision and Values and strategic directions of Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA and as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the general supervision of the Manager or designate cleans decontaminates assembles wraps sterilizes and distributes simple and complex instruments equipment linen and supplies related to the OR and other areas of the hospital and perform related clerical duties. Duties also involve picking of equipment for OR instrument sets and filling requests from the charge of the stores function and receives a variety of articles and performs related stores duties such as unpacking checking storing and distributing articles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Grade 12 successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing course plus one years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
- Mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
