Job Summary

  • Monitors all personnel and employment practices to ensure compliance with federal state and local laws.
  • Conducts wage and salary surveys job analyses and recommends job description changes.
  • Administers wage and salary program; monitors merit increase program to ensure internal equity.
  • Administers employee benefits program.
  • Investigates all assigned complaints timely.
  • Oversees the staff disciplinary system processes disciplinary actions timely.
  • Initiates Center human resources directives.
  • Monitors Center workers compensation and OSHA programs.
  • Monitors Center Affirmative Action programs.
  • Develops and implements an effective new hire orientation program.
  • Develops and implements staff development and training program.
  • Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Provides staff training to center management personnel as it relates to Human Resources.
  • Oversees payroll reporting requirements.
  • Ensures Equus EEO Policy is communicated and adhered to by all staff.
  • Serves as the EO Committee chair; maintains current EO log.
  • Responds to leave requests within required timeframe.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff students and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center ensuring it remains free from harassment intimidation and disrespect thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree from four-year college or university in business management human resources psychology or related field; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Requires excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and oral; must communicate professionally and positively with employees and all levels of management.
  • Required knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulatory compliance.
  • A fundamental understanding of computer processing including word processing and spreadsheet applications. 
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
