Job Summary
This student-centered educator is responsible for helping build a culture centered around wellness and healthy living for all learners through implementation of our health education curriculum. Conant Middle High School practices a team approach where collaboration with both grade level and subject area teams is structured into the weekly schedule in order to maximize student learning. While developing positive learner relationships is of primary importance an understanding of how to apply modern health skills and understandings for improved learner wellness is a must. Specific requirements include the need to: Teach knowledge and skills in health and wellness and develop a personal culture of wellness within each learner utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Plan a balanced wellness education program that meets the guidelines required by district learning progressions and state guidelines. Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt curriculum to needs of each learner to the extent feasible. Integrate mental health wellness physical wellness sexual health wellness nutritional wellness and overall wellness into all aspects of the health curriculum. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productive environment. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Communicate with parents school counselors and other appropriate staff members on learners progress. All other appropriate duties as or when assigned by a building administrator or supervisor.
