Professional Engineer (PE) Distribution Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong power distribution design experience to support electric utility projects in the Southeast. This role requires a hands-on engineer who understands how systems work in the field and can translate real-world conditions into practical reliable distribution designs.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with electric utilities distribution systems and field operations along with a strong technical foundation in power engineering.
Key Responsibilities

Design and review electric power distribution systems for utility clients

Prepare construction packages calculations and engineering documentation
-
Support overhead and underground distribution projects
-
Perform field visits to gather data verify design conditions and support construction
-
Coordinate with utility clients project managers and field crews
-
Ensure designs meet utility standards NESC NEC and regulatory requirements
-
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers
-
Support project planning scheduling and cost estimating
Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)
-
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)

Strong experience in power distribution design
-
Experience working with electric utilities (distribution preferred)

Field experience supporting utility or construction projects
-
Practical hands-on background and understanding of how systems work in real-world environments

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with utility standards and distribution modeling tools

Experience with overhead and underground distribution
-
Experience supporting investor-owned utilities cooperatives or municipalities
-
Background in construction support commissioning or field engineering
