Senior Quality Engineer

Location: Coimbatore Tamil Nadu India

Job description Sr. Quality Engineer - The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the company’s quality standards and requirements. This role involves inspecting materials components and finished products analyzing data evaluating supplier capabilities conducting audits resolving quality issues and driving continuous improvement in the supply chain. The Sr. Quality Engineer works closely with suppliers procurement and internal quality teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality materials and components.

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Quality Engineer: Conduct inspections and tests on raw materials in-process components and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

Use various measurement tools and equipment (e.g. CMM Air Plug gage etc.) to perform precise inspections.

Document inspection and test results accurately and maintain detailed records. Conduct supplier audits to evaluate their quality management systems processes and capabilities.

Identify and report any deviations from quality standards to the relevant teams.

Implement and monitor control plans to ensure consistent product quality.

Analyze quality data to identify trends patterns and areas for improvement.

Prepare and present quality performance reports to management.

Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality problems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

Work with suppliers to improve their processes quality systems and performance.

Provide training and guidance to suppliers on quality standards tools and best practices.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier quality and reduce defects.

Work closely with procurement engineering and production teams to align supplier quality with business needs.

Support new product development by ensuring suppliers meet design and quality requirements.

Communicate supplier quality performance and risks to internal and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to quality delivery and compliance.

Develop contingency plans for critical suppliers to ensure business continuity.

Maintain accurate records of supplier audits quality issues and corrective actions.

Knowledge & Experience

Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Quality Management or a related field.

Typically 7-10 years of experience in supplier quality management or a related role preferably in Power transmission manufacturing items like Gears Housings etc.

Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g. APQP PPAP FMEA SPC RCA).

Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Proficiency in using quality management Software Excel and tools.

Working in a global team would be an added advantage *Working Conditions: * - Office-based with frequent travel to supplier sites for audits and evaluations. - May require working outside standard business hours to address urgent supplier quality issues.
