We are seeking a compassionate and resourceful Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients develop recover and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. The OT will conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify barriers to independence and implement personalized therapeutic interventions. The goal is to enhance the patients ability to perform meaningful activities (occupations) and improve their overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct standardized assessments and clinical observations to evaluate a patients physical cognitive and emotional status.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with specific measurable goals based on patient needs and medical history.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities to improve fine motor skills sensory processing hand-eye coordination and upper body strength.
- Provide training in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing bathing and meal preparation.
- Recommend and provide training for adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs splints or eating aids.
- Assess home school or work environments and suggest modifications to improve accessibility and safety.
- Monitor and document patient progress adjusting treatment strategies as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate family members and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs.
Qualifications
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- Current state licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
- Initial certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to address complex patient needs.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Work Environment
This role may be based in a hospital outpatient clinic school system or skilled nursing facility. The position requires physical stamina including the ability to lift or assist patients and remain active throughout the workday.
