Java Development Engineer (Hybrid)

• Deliver seamless travel with border control applications.

• Offer convenience for travelers for fast and secure border crossing.

• Improve border intelligence for detection and prevention including some of the most disruptive new technologies like biometrics machine learning or micro services.

What will you do

As a Java Developer within Thales you will:

• Build: Design develop test and deploy Java applications that solve real-world problems and delight users

• Collaborate and create: Team up with designers product managers and other developers to brainstorm and implement new features.

• Innovate and Integrate: work on projects that connect various devices and systems bringing seamless solutions to live

• Enhance and Optimize: Make existing software better faster and more efficient ensuring top performance

• Learn Share and Grow: Participate in code reviews and contribute to knowledge sharing. Cooperate to prepare guides and documentation for installation configuration and troubleshooting. Cooperate with Delivery and Field teams regarding troubleshooting and configuration of the solution.

About You

To succeed in this job you should have:

Technical skills:

• Bachelors or masters degree in engineering or computer science and significant experience in your field of expertise.

• Demonstrated experience with Java development.

• Experience with Spring Boot Micronaut or Quarkus frameworks to develop Micro services

• Experience with distributed messaging Docker K8s etc. technologies.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

• Proven experience with the complete process of software development and worked in Agile methodologies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2) and Spanish.

Previous knowledge or work experience in any of the following points will be valued:

• Any of below knowledge or experiences

  • Knowledge of DDD and event-driven architectures

  • Experience with Kafka Streams or another data stream processing technology

  • Experience with REST APIs

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies like Consul and Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Prometheus to produce technical metrics

  • Experience with Jenkins or GitLab CI pipelines

  • Knowledge of IntelliJ IDEA or another IDE

  • Knowledge of a second programming language: Kotlin Scala etc.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing software systems

• Knowledge and proven experience relevant to border and travel domain.
