Senior Oracle Exadata Database Administrator

What to expect

In this role youll be responsible for expanding our squads capabilities to support the growth of our time-sensitive core financial services. Working hand-in-hand with the squad youll provide critical guidance and oversight as we design develop test and maintain the high-quality databases tools and projects that are essential to delivering our vital financial services.

The following are dailies responsibilities for the role:

• Automation Development:

  • Design implement and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Ansible and Terraform to facilitate self-service capabilities for database operations.

  • Automate routine tasks such as patching upgrades and security checks to minimize manual intervention and reduce errors all within a zero-touch deployment framework.

• Self-Service Capabilities:

  • Develop and deploy self-service tools for database provisioning configuration management and monitoring ensuring they align with zero-touch deployment principles.

  • Create user-friendly interfaces (via Ansible Tower) and documentation to enable teams to utilise self-service capabilities effectively.

• Exadata Administration:

  • Manage and maintain Exadata (ExaCC) environments ensuring optimal performance availability and security.

• Database Management:

  • Administer Oracle RAC databases in a high-availability & time-critical high environment.

  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies for ExaCC databases.

  • Conduct regular database health checks and implement proactive measures.

• Patch Management:

  • Plan and implement Oracle Database and ExaCC patching and upgrades.

• Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security policies and access controls for ExaCC databases.

  • Ensure databases align with industry standards and regulations.

• Collaboration:

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams including system administrators network engineers and application developers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.

• Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all aspects of ExaCC database administration.

What will make you successful

• Strong knowledge and experience with Oracle DBA: 19c & 23ai versions

• Proficient in Oracle Cloud Control and Oracle Unified Directory

• Proficient in Oracle RAC (real application cluster) and ExaCC

• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

• Replication of database using DataGuard

• Has good experience with Ansible and Terraform

• Problem solving attitude towards technical issues

• Proficiency in automation tools specifically Ansible and Terraform with hands-on experience in developing and deploying automation scripts.

• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash) for additional automation capabilities.
