JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher-English Learner Education

POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Teacher-English Learner Education is responsible for designing and implementing language instruction provides support and guidance for Multilingual learners (MLLs) and collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Teacher- English Language Learner:
- Creates and provides tools resources technical assistance and instruction to ensure that students have the support to acquire a new language. *
- Plans and delivers lessons in English language development. *
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of MLLs across content areas. *
- Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and ensure student achievement. *
- Personalizes instruction as necessary to account for individual student differences. *
- Utilizes appropriate assessment strategies to measure learning and performance. *
- Provides equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for students regardless of race sex gender identity sexual orientation background and abilities. *
- Communicates with and constantly strives to maintain a positive relationship with students and parents. *
- Manages student behavior in the classroom. *
- Organizes the classroom to promote learning student safety and ensures classroom equipment functions in a safe manner. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the *
- Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways on the grounds and other areas of the school. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory; knowledge of second language acquisition patterns and best practices in English language development; possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home; ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with students; knowledge of special education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological psychological emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; and ability to lead meetings; ability to help groups achieve consensus.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as an ELL/ESL teacher.
Work Experience: Experience as a language instructor of multilingual learners is preferred.
