We want our people to thrive in an environment that values their output.Meet the TeamThe RTÉ Concert Orchestra (RTÉ CO) plays a central role in classical music in Ireland through live performances broadcasts commercial recordings and addition to its NCH concerts national tours residencies and a busy summer season the Orchestra continues to gain international recognition from both its concert activities and recordingsReporting to the Orchestra Manager RTÉ Concert Orchestra and supervised by the Senior Orchestral Assistant the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination movement and storage of all the RTÉ Concert Orchestras instruments and equipment for domestic and international needs.About the role:Key responsibilities will include:- Assisting Senior Orchestral Assistant and Orchestra Manager in planning and setting of platform/opera pit for the orchestras rehearsals and performances in a variety of venues and locations
- Safely moving and lifting valuable and fragile instruments and equipment loading and unloading the orchestra truck and loading in and out of venues
- Maintaining good working knowledge of all instruments/equipment alerting management to repair needs as they arise
- Assisting Senior Orchestral Assistant and Orchestra Manager in scheduling the transportation of instruments music stands lights staging props and any other equipment deemed necessary in a cost-effective manner
- Undertaking reconnaissance trips
- Organising repairs and overhauls of instruments/equipment
About you:Candidates should have:- Significant experience in the orchestral music theatre festival and/or entertainment business a working knowledge of orchestras/orchestral stage management would be desirable
- Education to Leaving Certificate level
- The ability to work and contribute as part of a small team and to work on ones own initiative
- Good level of computer literacy
- Full clean driving licence
- Excellent spatial awareness coupled with problem solving skills
- An up-to-date working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety policy and practice
Due to the nature of RTÉ CO performances Orchestral Assistants may be required to work evenings weekends and bank holidays and involve travel throughout Ireland and potentially internationally.If you are interested in this opportunity please submit your CV together with a cover letter outliningyour interest and alignment to the role requirements.
