Job Summary

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Multilingual Learners & Family Support opening located at the Central Office for the 2026 - 2027 school year.Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Academics & Student Services the Coordinator of Multilingual Learners (ML) & Family Support provides district-level coordination instructional support and collaborative supervision to enhance the academic success and well-being of Multilingual Learners and their families. This role supports the implementation of ML programs family engagement strategies and compliance with MSDE and Blueprint for Marylands Future requirements. The coordinator works collaboratively with school administrators ML instructional staff families and community partners to remove barriers promote access and strengthen outcomes for multilingual learners.

DUTIES: The following are examples of the typical duties performed:

  • Support the design implementation and monitoring of district Multilingual Learner programs to ensure alignment with MSDE requirements and district instructional priorities.
  • Collaborate with principals and school leadership to supervise and evaluate Multilingual Learner teachers and Instructional Assistants in accordance with district evaluation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Local Accountability Coordinator and school-based staff to ensure the ACCESS English Language Proficiency assessment is administered in accordance with state and MSDE guidelines and support the analysis and use of ACCESS data to inform instructional planning program improvement and student support for English Learners.
  • Participate in classroom observations walkthroughs and feedback conversations to support high-quality ML instruction and service delivery.
  • Maintain multiple ML-specific data and instructional platforms in addition to navigating external platforms associated with Title III and WIDA ACCESS.
  • Maintain district ML student records and participate in state finance and program audits.
  • Coordinate and support ML family engagement and communication efforts at the school and district levels.
  • Serve as a liaison between ML families schools and community partners advocating for the needs of multilingual families.
  • Coordinate translation and interpretation services to support effective communication between schools families and community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations to support ML students and families.
  • Support professional learning related to cultural competency multilingual family engagement and effective ML instructional practices.
  • Assist with data collection monitoring reporting and documentation related to ML services Blueprint accountability and MSDE compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or their designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligible for and hold prior to appointment the Maryland State Department of Education Licensure for Advanced Professional License in accordance with COMAR 13A.12.01.04.
  • A masters degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education accordance with COMAR 13A.12.05.05.
  • Eligible for and hold prior to appointment the Maryland State Department of Education Licensure for Administrator I in accordance with COMAR 13A.12.05.05.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience including working with multilingual students.
  • Experience with multilingual family engagement community involvement or related educational services preferred.
  • Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning family workshops or community meetings.
  • Working knowledge of educational systems second language acquisition and EL program requirements.
  • Knowledge of grant management and state and federal compliance measures.
  • Strong technology skills with the ability to manage multiple platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data presentation tools required.
  • Ability to maintain regular on-time attendance and fulfill the essential functions of the position.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in at least one language other than English aligned to district ML populations preferred.
