Responsibilities
- Oversees the process of physician orders which may require approval/authorization from insurance companies and/or third party vendor portals. Obtains information necessary to complete the prior-authorization for radiology medication and/or other medical services. Includes collecting all the necessary documentation contacting the ordering physician for additional information or to ask questions regarding the order and determining from a quick overview whether the order is likely to be approved (prior-auth) and is ready to be moved on to prior-authorization stage.
- Answer telephone take all incoming messages and appropriately document in the electronic medical record.
- Handle all appointment scheduling.
- Greet and receive patients obtain appropriate patient and financial information.
- Document patient arrival verify patient information and obtain appropriate consents and signatures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Degree(s): High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Field of Expertise: At least two years of Medical Office experience and an understanding of Medical Terminology.
Prior experience with patient scheduling or working in a medical health center preferred.
Familiarity with Medical Terminology preferred.
Computer skills (use of an electronic medical record system required).
Preferred Training/Cert: Medical Assistant
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information and adheres to AHC HIPAA Compliance Program.
Operating knowledge of personal computers and MS Windows applications (including Word Excel and Outlook).
Must be able to interact with patients insurers and team members in a responsible professional and ethical manner.
Ability to self motivate.
