Salary: $21.51per hour
CLASSIFICATION: Category B of the salary schedule
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Under the direction of the Building Engineer perform the following duties:
Assume responsibility for the building in the absence of the engineer
Take down flag and take care of school no parking signs
General cleaning such as sweeping emptying of waste receptacles cleaning toilet facilities filling dispensers cleaning of carpets and blinds
Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs
Do yard work such as grass mowing weeding trimming and general clean up
Keep walks and entries clear of ice and snow
Help with receiving storing and delivering supplies for the building and cafeteria
Move and arrange furniture for school functions
Respond to alarm calls
Carry out additional requests of principal and building engineer as needed
PREPARATION EXPERIENCE SKILLS
Knowledge of modern cleaning methods and use and care of materials tools and equipment
Ability to perform minor building and equipment repairs
Ability to plan organize and carry out work schedules efficiently
Possess physical strength stamina endurance with the ability to do vigorous manual work climb stairs and lift heavy loads
Must be able to pass the Physical Capacity Profile tests
Must have neat appearance and good work habits
Able to function with a minimum of instruction and supervision after a brief indoctrination period
Hours of employment will vary depending on location and assignment
Ability to read write and understand the English language
Computer literacy required

Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators colleagues community members staff and students. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The following word pictures are a sample of work demands but not all-inclusive of the day in day out physicality required: Be able to climb up and down a ladder wearing a tool belt with approximately 10 lbs of weight; shoveling with 30lb push; push/pull 40lbs effort each hand; bucket lift and pour 50lbs; office desk lift (one end) 70lbs; transfer 50lb ground to 41; lift from 37 to 67 shelf 30lbs; carry 80lbs for 20 feet; push/pull effort 25 feet with 70lbs. The job may require exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is usually quiet but employee may work in areas of a building or operate equipment where hearing protection is recommended.
The employee will move stand squat on an assortment of surfaces including tile wood terrazzo and concrete. The employee will generally work inside but will be required to work outside during hot or cold weather rain snow sleet and icy conditions performing their duties. The employee will stand or move on surfaces that are damp.
