Burlington-Winooski Middle School Summer Program 2026
The Burlington School District believes a diverse and culturally proficient faculty and staff are pivotal to the creation of a strong learning environment free of inequities. Accordingly the Burlington School Districts goal is to provide every student with an educational experience enhanced by the professional contributions of culturally competent representatives of different races ethnicity gender physical ability age and sexual preference. The Burlington-Winooski Middle School Summer Program is seeking experienced and energetic paraeducators to carry out programs designed by the teaching staff manage behavior support theme-based enrichment activities and field trips throughout the 5-week summer program.
Daily expectations for All Staff (Lead Enrichment and Support):
- Model Mentor and Monitor appropriate behavior
- Set up your designated program space every morning
- Complete and maintain accurate attendance every day
- Plan and facilitate daily activities / classes
- Engage students in hands-on activities and learning
- Ensure that your group adheres to all health guidance
- Help students transition between activities
- Use a restorative approach to behavior management
- Communicate all concerns and needs with Directors
- Clean up program supplies and space at the end of each day
- All other duties as assigned
Additional expectations for Enrichment Staff:
- Plan 5 weeks of daily activities focused on enrichment classes assigned
- Compile and submit supply list for your program prior to program start date
- Review program expectations lessons and schedule with support staff
- Problem-solve questions and concerns that arise in your program with Directors
Please make sure you provide clear evidence of the following criteria in your application.
- High school diploma plus at least 2 years of additional education
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in education or related field
- Ability to commit to work all 5 program weeks
- Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols and PBIS
- Training and experience with English Language Learners
- Evidence of strong connection with students and families
- Understanding of summer learning and previous experience in a summer learning program.
Position Dates and Hours
Program Dates: June 22 2026 - July 24 2026
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours/week 8:00 a.m. - 3:30p.m. Monday - Friday
Can be part days - 8:00am - 12:30pm or 12:00pm - 3:30pm
