KIPP SoCal Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that operates 20 tuition-free open-enrollment charter public schools within 17 Local Education Agencies (LEA) educating more than 10000 students and supporting 8300 alumni to and through college and beyond. Our award winning schools are part of the national KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) network dedicated to meeting the needs of all learners and providing the social emotional and academic support for success in high school college and life.

At KIPP SoCal we build trusting relationships that are strengthened by high expectations and collaboration alongside laughter and joy. We set ambitious goals and hold each other accountable for students achieving their greatest potential. We work together with each other and in partnership with families and communities in the active pursuit of a more equitable world. We do the right thing even when its not always comfortable standing up and speaking out against anti-blackness racism oppression and injustice. We persevere through obstacles and treat failure as an opportunity to learn and grow.
What Youll Do
- Under the immediate supervision of the school psychologist the psychologist intern will:
- Conduct psycho-educational evaluations for special education including writing reports parent and teacher interviews observations and attending IEP meetings.
- Participate in the SSPT process
- Provide support with the Student Success Team (SSPT) process for administration teachers and support staff
- Conduct systematic behavioral observations of student in a variety of settings and provide Tiered recommendations
- Consult with teacher administrators parents and community resources regarding students in special education as well as regular education
- Consult and collaborate with fellow school psychologists
- Actively participate in peer review
- Observe and conduct a functional behavior assessment or other behavior intervention
- Participate in a school program such as the crisis intervention team develop 504 accommodations and refer to outside agencies
- Provide individual and group counseling and early intervention for students showing signs of having learning difficulties or other difficulties hindering the their academic progress including but not limited to social skills training anger management conflict resolution and peer mediation
- Other duties as assigned
Youll Be Qualified If You Have
- BA/BS
- Current enrollment in a Masters program in School Psychology
- University verification regarding Intern eligibility
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to utilize various testing techniques materials equipment and instruments
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
