Position Summary
Ultra Maritime is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician with an MET degree or equivalent technical background to provide hands-on technical support to engineering teams. This role supports the design build testing and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and assemblies ensuring projects are completed accurately efficiently and on schedule.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support to mechanical and system engineers to ensure timely completion of project designs and deliverables.
Build assemble modify and test mechanical components subassemblies and systems.
Conduct complex testing of products and components; accurately document test setups procedures and results.
Assist with prototype development design verification and validation activities.
Assist in Return Material Authorization (RMA) part and assembly trouble shooting and repair activities
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings CAD models BOMs and engineering specifications.
Identify design or build issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical systems manufacturing and quality.
Support field testing integration or supplier activities including travel up to 15%.
Required Qualifications
6 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or similar role.
Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or equivalent technical education/experience preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly testing and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings GD&T and technical documentation.
Experience documenting test data procedures and results.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint).
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DoD Navy or defense programs.
Familiarity with precision mechanical systems enclosures pressure housings or ruggedized equipment.
Exposure to AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
Experience with prototype fabrication test fixtures or environmental testing.
Ability to lead or coordinate small technical tasks or test efforts.
Use of 3D CAD
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to stand walk use hands to handle or feel reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
Normal finger dexterity and normal color vision.
Candidate must be capable of occasional lifting of 40 pounds waist high with no assistance.
Typically a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of related experience.
Associate Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
May be required to maintain security clearance.
