REPORTS TO: Campus Principal/Director of Career and Technical Education
PAY GRADE: Teacher Salary Schedule approved by the Board of Trustees
DUTY DAYS: 187 days

A Chapter 21 Contract will be issued for this position.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide learning activities and experiences to attain knowledge and skills in economics and private enterprise systems the impact of global business the marketing of goods and services advertising and product pricing. Enable students to reinforce apply and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety of interesting and relevant activities problems and settings in business marketing and finance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Masters degree
Ability to be credentialed to teach dual credit by a partner college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificates for Marketing 6-12 Marketing Education 8-12 Business Education 6-12 Business and Finance 6-12 preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned
Knowledge Business Marketing and Finance career field
Proficient in Google Suites and Microsoft Office or willing to attend training
Demonstrated mastery of experiential learning techniques
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Fluent with technology use and actively integrates technology to enhance student learning particularly in various presentation delivery methods
Strong understanding of career opportunities and skills required for employment in any industry
Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
Able to manage student run enterprises
Familiar with cash handling procedures
Minimum Experience:
2 years previous teaching experience preferred
3 years relevant work experience required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies:
1. Develop and implement plans for the dual credit curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
2. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
3. Provide students with instruction on industry standard software and provide opportunities where appropriate for students to earn industry certifications.
5. Access and use available data to plan and implement appropriate instructional/learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned (i.e. gifted and talented bilingual/ESL 504 etc).
6. Work cooperatively with special education teachers/staff to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by Individual Education Plans (IEP).
7. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.
8. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) while working with students in the classroom.
9. Use appropriate technologies to strengthen and enhance the teaching and learning process.
10. Participate as an active member of the CTE Advisory Board for Business Marketing and Finance
11. Participate as a sponsor of a CTE student organization and competitions.
12. Assist students with earning their Microsoft Office and Google Analytics industry based certifications.
13. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
14. Consistently monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
15. Assist students in preparing for registering for and successfully obtaining industry-recognized certifications aligned with the program of study.
16. Meet all dual credit requirements established by the district and partnering college and/or university.
Classroom Management and Organization:
1. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the intellectual physical social and emotional development of students.
2. Provide safety training for students and maintain documentation that the student mastered the concepts
3. Manage student behavior in the classroom and other areas as appropriate in accordance with Student Code of Conduct board policies administrative regulations and/or IEP.
4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
5. Assist in the selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
Communication:
1. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents/guardians.
2. Actively Participate as a member of the cluster advisory committee
3. Maintain a professional relationship with all supervisors colleagues students parents and community members.
4. Use appropriate and acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development:
1. Demonstrate current knowledge understanding and skill in assigned area instructional strategies and the teaching and learning process.
2. Participate in district and campus professional development including CTE meetings and training.
3. Participate in required district meetings cluster meetings and advisory meetings
4. Attend training to advance instructional skill level in experiential training techniques.
5. Attend professional development related to certification area.
6. Attend annual safety training for CTE instructors.
Policy Implementation:
1. Keeps informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
2. Compile maintain and file all physical and electronic reports records and other required documents.
3. Attend and participate in faculty/staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
4. Demonstrate behavior that is professional responsible and in compliance with the Professional Code of Ethics.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment copier and laptop computer
Posture: Prolonged siting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (15 - 50 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
