Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Buyer Plastic Commodities to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across plastic resin and injection molded components. This role is responsible for managing global supplier relationships driving cost optimization and supporting new program launches within a complex fast-paced automotive environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in plastic resin sourcing (Tier 3) and/or injection molded components (Tier 2) with the ability to influence both material strategy and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own global sourcing strategy for plastic resin and/or injection molded components
- Lead supplier selection negotiation and contract management across regional and global suppliers
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through material strategy supplier consolidation and commercial negotiations
- Manage relationships with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers ensuring performance in quality delivery and cost
- Support new product launches ensuring materials and components are sourced and delivered on time
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering manufacturing and quality teams to align sourcing strategies
- Monitor market trends raw material indices and supply risks to inform sourcing decisions
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and supplier standards
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Engineering Business or related field
- 57 years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management within automotive or manufacturing
- Direct experience sourcing plastic resin and/or injection molded components
- Strong understanding of global supply chains supplier negotiation and cost modeling
- Experience working with Tier 1 suppliers and/or OEM-facing environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable cost savings and supplier performance improvements
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing global resin suppliers
- Familiarity with tooling molding processes or material selection
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments
