The School Nurse supports the health and well-being of Grades 812 students by providing direct care health education and preventative services while working closely with the Student Support Team to ensure coordinated care. They serve as a trusted resource for students staff and families balancing clinical care with guidance and advocacy. They work in partnership with a 2nd School Nurse (0.75 FTE) in the campuss health centre and work during the school year (when school is in session). This is a Permanent position for 30 hours a week starting August 28 respond to and manage both emergent and non-emergent health guidance and counselling to students parents faculty and staff on mental and physical health education on current health trends communicable diseases wellness practices and preventive strategies to promote long-term and review medical documentation to ensure accurate records of students and staffs health in weekly Student of Concern meetings and contribute to discussions on the Health and Safety nursing procedures within the licensed scope of practice following established policies and procedural qualificationsCurrent BCCNP registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)Valid Basic Life Support (HCP) CertificationA minimum 2 years experience in a pediatric setting and/or acute care settingOFA 2 or 3 Certification an assetEffective management skills and ability to prioritize tasksAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleaguesDiscretion regarding the handling of sensitive and confidential information pertaining to student parent faculty and staffCanadian residency and legally entitled to work in CanadaOur Must HavesRespect dignity and inclusion for all members of the communityCollaborative mind-set and courageous approach to adversityDemonstrated communications skills (oral and written)Creative out-of-the-box thinkerFlexible and adaptable and embraces changeProven work ethic with utmost integrityEnthusiasm eagerness and genuine interest in all aspects of the schools successSelf-awareness with a desire for constant self improvement (goal-oriented)We offer professional development opportunities competitive salaries a generous benefits package health and wellness initiatives along with one of the most beautiful locations in Canada to work!The annual hiring range for this position is from $44605 to $50150 (based on the 0.75 FTE).
