Your Opportunity

Dillons Buildings Infrastructure Practice is seeking a Discipline Lead - Electrical Facilities to fill an existing vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon we operate as one team. The successful candidate can be based at our Halifax NS office.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role a candidate must demonstrate proficiency across four core pillars:

  • Strategic Leadership & Reputation: The ability to shape the disciplines direction drive organic growth and elevate Dillons reputation both internally and externally.
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: The ability to maintain deep technical expertise in electrical facilities while driving digital transformation and called shots on incremental innovation.
  • People & Team Development: A commitment to coaching Team Managers fostering a culture of inclusion and promoting knowledge sharing across disciplines.
  • Delivery & Operational Excellence: Proven experience in meeting financial targets (Gross Margin Revenue) managing health and safety risks and championing standardization in deliverables.

Strategic Leadership & Reputation

  • Shape and advance the disciplines strategic direction to elevate its reputation and influence both inside Dillon and within the broader industry.
  • Identify and make sound business decisions regarding organic growth opportunities and build a discipline-specific sales pipeline to achieve year-over-year growth.
  • Prioritize client engagement to align future skillsets with new services and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Project Managers Business Units and Practice Leads.
  • Maintain a respected industry presence and recognition serving as a trusted advisor to both internal and external clients.
  • Reinforce the connection between technical leadership and client value by promoting excellence in both internal design standards and external project delivery.

Technical Leadership & Innovation

  • Deliver on incremental innovation utilizing a business case and success metrics to improve efficiency.
  • Drive digital transformation and data-informed decision-making leveraging technology to enhance design quality within the discipline.
  • Maintain deep technical expertise by staying current with industry trends emerging technologies and best practices.

People & Team Development

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to Team Managers supporting their growth performance management and decision-making autonomy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement accountability ownership and innovation across the discipline.
  • Promote teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members and across different disciplines to ensure coordinated communication.

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Meet or exceed financial targets including Gross Labour Revenue and Adjusted Gross Margin while maintaining high-quality service.
  • Champion discipline-wide standardization to ensure consistency in deliverables workflows and the overall client experience.

Proactively identify and manage health & safety risks and oversee quality control processes to mitigate operational risks.

Qualifications

  • A degree in electrical engineering or an electrical engineering technologist diploma
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or registered as a certified engineering technologist in Nova Scotia or eligible to be licensed/registered within six months.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience preferably in the consulting industry

Experience

  • Proven experience in strategic leadership organic business growth and building professional reputation within the industry.
  • Proven success in project management and business development specifically leading technical teams through complex large-scale projects.
  • Deep technical proficiency in a wide range of electrical systems including power distribution safety protocols and advanced system studies.
  • Proven abilities in leading multidisciplinary projects and teams.
  • Expertise in leading multidisciplinary projects and teams of technical professionals.
  • Proven skills in public and agency consultation.
  • In-depth understanding of business issues associated with consulting engineering and planning.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.
