Description

The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) is an Agency of the Scottish Government responsible for the assessment and payment of student financial support for Scottish Students studying within the UK.
SAAS administer budgets of around 1.4 billion each year making payments to both higher education institutions and over 190000 students a year. We are committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that is representative of the clients we serve.

SAAS is undergoing significant digital transformation including the Core Systems Replacement (CSR) Programme and Cloud Migration. This role provides specialist information management and data protection support to ensure these programmes are delivered compliantly and effectively.

The post is fixedterm for 12 months and is focused on embedding robust information governance data protection requirements and data handling practices into new systems and processes.



Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist IM/DP support to the CSR Programme ensuring data protection data governance and records management requirements are incorporated into system design data flows and programme documentation.
  • Support DPIAs data mapping and compliance activities working with delivery teams to identify information risks early and offer practical evidencebased advice.
  • Contribute to data governance improvements supporting clarity on data ownership retention schedules lawful bases for processing and consistent data handling across workstreams.
  • Offer clear practical guidance to project and business teams translating IM/DP requirements into actions that support safe compliant delivery.
  • Work collaboratively across functions including Information Security IT IM team colleagues and transformation workstreams to ensure alignment of standards and controls.



Qualifications

Working pattern

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 12 months.

You will be expected to attend the office in person 6 days per month at Saughton House.
