Job Summary

PRODUCTION MECHANIC

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Mechanic is responsible for maintaining repairing and troubleshooting production equipment in a fish processing and manufacturing facility. This includes performing preventative maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and supporting production operations to meet safety quality and efficiency goals.

Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on processing and packaging machinery (e.g. conveyors slicers vacuum packers scales pumps chillers).
Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical electrical pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Maintain sanitation standards by supporting clean-in-place (CIP) and disassembly/reassembly processes.
Assist with equipment installation relocation or upgrades.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs and parts used.
Ensure compliance with OSHA GMP HACCP and company safety policies.
Collaborate with production staff to identify potential equipment issues.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred.
2 years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment preferably seafood or protein-related.
Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read blueprints schematics and manuals.
Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
Able to work in cold wet and fast-paced environments.
Basic computer skills for work orders and inventory systems.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Frequent exposure to cold and wet environments (refrigerated rooms).
Physically demanding standing bending lifting to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.
Required to work weekend evening or holiday shifts depending on production needs.
