PRODUCTION MECHANIC
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Mechanic is responsible for maintaining repairing and troubleshooting production equipment in a fish processing and manufacturing facility. This includes performing preventative maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and supporting production operations to meet safety quality and efficiency goals.
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on processing and packaging machinery (e.g. conveyors slicers vacuum packers scales pumps chillers).
- Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical electrical pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain sanitation standards by supporting clean-in-place (CIP) and disassembly/reassembly processes.
- Assist with equipment installation relocation or upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs and parts used.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA GMP HACCP and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with production staff to identify potential equipment issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment preferably seafood or protein-related.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read blueprints schematics and manuals.
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Able to work in cold wet and fast-paced environments.
- Basic computer skills for work orders and inventory systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Frequent exposure to cold and wet environments (refrigerated rooms).
- Physically demanding standing bending lifting to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.
- Required to work weekend evening or holiday shifts depending on production needs.
