Job Summary


A Railroad Quality Control (QC) Inspector ensures that railroad infrastructure materials and equipment meet safety engineering and regulatory standards. This role focuses on inspecting track construction rail components signal systems and maintenance work to verify compliance with company specifications and federal regulations including those enforced by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).

Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage project quality documentation including inspection reports testing reports certifications and quality records.
  • Track daily inspection reports submitted by field inspectors and ensure timely submission and proper documentation.
  • Maintain document control systems for project submittals RFIs inspection reports testing logs and quality records.
  • Coordinate with inspectors contractors and materials testing laboratories to ensure required inspections and testing activities are completed according to project specifications.
  • Conduct necessary Quality Assurance (QA) meetings and attend all required project coordination meetings.
  • Maintain logs and tracking systems for Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) corrective actions and quality observations.
  • Review quality documentation for completeness accuracy and compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
  • Assist the Quality Manager and Project Manager in preparing quality reports meeting summaries and project updates.
  • Ensure all quality documentation complies with project quality management plans and applicable regulatory requirements including those established by the Federal Railroad Administration.
  • Coordinate with project engineers and inspectors to resolve documentation issues and ensure timely reporting.
  • Maintain testing records for construction materials such as ballast aggregate concrete and subgrade used in rail infrastructure construction.
  • Support internal and external quality audits by organizing and providing requested documentation.
  • Assist with preparation and compilation of project closeout documentation and final quality records.
  • Communicate regularly with project team members to ensure all quality processes and documentation requirements are followed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Quality Manager.

Job Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering construction management transportation or related field (preferred)
  • At least 5 years in railroad construction maintenance of way (MOW) or track inspection
  • Experience reading track charts blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions
  • Along active railroad tracks and rail yards
  • May require travel to multiple project sites
  • Physical activity including walking long distances climbing and lifting
  • Love and enjoy working indoors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Computer aptitude and ability to adapt to the companys systems
  • A valid drivers license and a clean driving history required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create positive and professional working relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving
  • High level of initiative
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Always adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter reliable and come with a good and humble attitude
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork communication multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills such as Word and Excel.
  • Clean MVR background and drug screening.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager
