Purpose of the Role
The ADON in Theatre acts as a pivotal leader in the management of theatre services and perioperative assessment ensuring the efficient safe and cost-effective delivery of perioperative care. This role involves the strategic planning coordination with theatre managers consultants and multidisciplinary teams to manage operating lists resources and clinical governance.
The role of ADON sets a high standard of nursing care through the management and control of the nursing service within budgetary allocation.
The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area as the need arises. It should be noted that in the context of the reconfiguration of Directorates across all sites the job specification may be subject to review and change and may involve further duties.
The successful candidate will lead and co-ordinate the development and delivery of the nursing within an assigned Directorate.
Essential Criteria:
Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition are:
- Registered on the Childrens or General Nurse Division/s of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland NMBI or entitled to be so registered.
- Able to demonstrable experience working in a theatre environment with a strong understanding of perioperative practices and patient care standards;
- Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years experience in clinical practice management practice development education or quality improvement;
- Possess a relevant post graduate award at level 9 (masters degree) or Higher;
- Proven leadership abilities excellent communication and interpersonal skills strong decision-making capabilities and proficiency in change management.
